TASSC is hosting its first Run for Strength 5K run and 1 mile walk to benefit survivors of torture in the DMV area. Join us at Wheaton Regional Park on December 4th to meet and run/walk with TASSC staff, supporters and survivors, including elite Ethiopian runners who were forced to flee their home countries after being persecuted by the government. You can learn more about some of these elite runners, like Ketema Amensisa and Demssew Tsega, in this recent Buzzfeed article.
After the run, we’ll have festivities, refreshments, music, a silent auction and mingling. It’s going to be a wonderful event that benefits a great cause. If you are interested in joining us on December 4th, you can register for the run here. We also have opportunities to volunteer at the race. If you’d like to help, sign up here.
Please feel free to reach out to TASSC’s Operations Manager, Kelsey Fisher, for more information at Kelsey@tassc.org
