Housing is one of the immediate needs of survivors. Two
friends of TASSC have generously offered us two apartments to provide temporary
housing for survivors who are seeking asylum or waiting to obtain their work
permits. One apartment is for women and the other is for men; each housing
three survivors. The survivors come from
different countries. In a community
atmosphere, they begin to rebuild trust in themselves and in others and share
in household responsibilities.
In addition, while awaiting asylum or work permits, TASSC
provides all survivors with opportunities to learn English as a second
language, acquire computer skills, and receive job counseling. (Because TASSC
protects the privacy of its members, their photos do not appear in the attached
pictures of the apartments.)
